Department of Women and Child Development

Constituted as an independent department in 1985, it deals with holistic development of children and women. Falls under following two directorates, since 2008, the department’s  trust areas are diverse ranging from Child Development to Women’s Empowerment, Nutrition, issue of violence against women and children, convergence programme with Government allied Departments :-

1.     Directorate of Integrated Child Development Services

2.     Directorate of Women Empowerment

Under able guidance of Ho’nble chief Minister, the state is witnessing a vibrant development phase, giving special emphasis for the development of the women and children addressing their concern in a multi phased manner to the welfare and nutritious programme department. 

Women and Child Development Department of had always ensured the welfare of the Women, Children and Adolescent girls. Their health, nutrition, protection, early childhood education and development have been improved through various Schemes of the department.

The Department of Women and Child Development is also implementing various Social Legislations for ensuring its objectives, viz. National Food Security Act, 2006, Prevention of Women from Domestic Violence Act-2005 (PWDVA), Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 (PCMA), Rajasthan Prevention of Witch-Hunting Act, 2015, Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment at Work place and Rajasthan Samuhik Vivah Niyaman Evum Anudan Niyam 2009.

The Department is taking several measures to create awareness among women and others in the society on these Acts in order to ensure that women and children actually benefit from these provisions available for them.
